Tonight, on UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), we’ve joined the global #purplelightup movement and have lit the historic Coney Island Parachute Jump in Purple to celebrate and bring attention to the significant contributions of the 386 million disabled employees around the world.
Continuing the tradition of giving and being thankful.
With the support of local businesses and organizations, Luna Park in Coney Island has been able to help feed more than 1,000 local residents every Thanksgiving Day as part of our mission to help people in need. This Thanksgiving, like everything else these days, is different from past years as the pandemic has created more challenges in our community - but our drive to help has become stronger than ever. Yesterday, equipped with hand sanitizing stations, social distancing, masks, and gloves, we were able to provide over 1000 Thanksgiving meals safely "to-go" to our neighbors in need.
We joined our community partners from Coney Island Gospel Assembly, Gargiulo’s restaurant, Alliance for Coney Island and elected officials, NY State Senator Diane Savino and NY City Councilmember Mark Treyger, and other local businesses to organize the event.
We know this year has been challenging, but we also know that New Yorkers are strong. We are so proud of and thankful for all of our team-members who volunteered and made yesterday's community Thanksgiving event a success! Your contributions to the greater community are valued and appreciated. By continuing to take care of each other we’ll come back stronger than ever.
We are thankful for our team-members - the Stars that make Luna Park in Coney Island shine and that help our guests create fun, safe, and magical experiences at our amusement park. We are thankful for New Yorkers and our vibrant Coney Island and Brooklyn community for doing their part in keeping us all healthy and safe. Everyone of us plays a role - it takes us all to create the healthy and safe environment that we need. This year, it’s more evident than ever we're all connected and we’re better and stronger together. Thank you! #lunaparknyc#coneyisland#thanksgiving#thanksgiving2020
