7 reasons why we love the Cyclone

They say good things come to those who wait and we’ve been anxiously waiting all year for this day!

Our beloved Coney Island Cyclone is turning 91-years old on June 26th and she’s still going strong. This New York City Landmark is a Coney Island staple and an all-time favorite ride to guests who visit from all over the city in search of a thrill. In honor of this special celebration, here are seven reasons why we LOVE the Coney Island Cyclone.

1. Egg Cream Christening

Every year we host the annual egg cream christening of the Cyclone to welcome the new season at Luna Park. Members of the press come from all over the city to catch a glimpse of this Coney Island tradition. Most importantly, friends of the Cyclone make their way back to us every year to participate in this event. Did we mention the first 100 guests in line always ride for free?

2. Cyclone Hair

You don’t need to get your hair done to ride this coaster because after the first drop, you’ll be sporting a new hairdo called Cyclone Hair. With gravity defying locks, we promise you’ll be the talk of the town!

3. Cyclone Face

You can’t have Cyclone hair without the right face to match! Cyclone Face comes in a variety of  expressions and levels of excitement. You do not choose it, it chooses you. The only way to find out which expression you’ll get, is to go for a ride.

4. Cyclone Hill

What is there to be said about that magnificent Cyclone hill? It will surely take your breath away as you slowly rise to panoramic heights and go over the ledge on an exhilarating 85-foot, 60-degree plunge at speeds of 60 mph. But more importantly, it’s very Instagram-worthy.

5. Cyclone Souvenir Shop

After conquering the mighty Cyclone hill, you’ll want to snag your ride photo from the souvenir shop and show off to your friends that you were up for the challenge. However, the real reason why we love this shop so much is that even if you weren’t ready to take on the Cyclone, you can still purchase some awesome merchandise and join in on the fun.

6. Celebs Love Us

Let us start off by saying that to us, all of you are celebrities! But can you blame us for STILL being excited about the time Beyonce visited the Cyclone? Credits

Not only do American artists enjoy the Cyclone, but so do our neighbors from across the pond. Check out Rita Ora‘s action shot during the first drop! The girl knows how to have fun when she is in Brooklyn! Credits

Did you know we’re also popular among four-legged celebrities? Shaggy and his little sister Dottie are quite the Instagram stars and were spotted skating by the Cyclone.

7. Staff

We saved the best for last because none of the above could be possible without them. The greatest reason why we love the Cyclone so much is because of our wonderful staff who work around the clock to make sure this ride is safe and fun for all of our guests.

We hope you make it down to Luna Park to help celebrate this big day! These are our reasons why we love the Cyclone, what are yours? Let us know in the comments below!

It seems like just yesterday we celebrated the Cyclone’s 90th birthday and just like that, we are back to do it again. The Cyclone was built on June 26th 1927 , declared as a New York City landmark on July 12, 1988 and in 2011, Luna Park officially took over the operations.

The Cyclone tops everyone’s list of things to do in New York City so get ready to shake, rattle, rumble and roll over 2,640 feet of track featuring 12 drops and 27 elevation changes that still has the stuff to take your breath away. Slowly rise to panoramic heights of Coney Island and grip the bar very tight, as you go over the ledge on an exhilarating 85-foot, 60-degree plunge at speeds of 60 mph. Cyclone is an all-time classic amusement park ride that’s kept rollercoaster lovers coming back since 1927!

After the ride is over, don’t forget to grab a photo at the Cyclone shop to keep the memory alive!
