Three Brooklyn-Based Charities Receive $75,000 Donation from Luna Park Opening Day Extraordinary Wristband Sales

Thank you to all who visited Luna Park in Coney Island on Opening Day! It is through your participation that our Annual Charity Day has become such a success.

Three local charities; Children of Promise, the Coney Island Sharks, and Operation H.O.O.D, each received a $25,000.00 donation on Friday, towards supporting their local youth focused programs.

CEO and President Alessandro Zamperla along with Alberto Zamperla host members from each organization for a check presentation ceremony.

“Luna Park in Coney Island is a place of traditions, and this has quickly become one of our favorites,” said Alessandro Zamperla, President and CEO of Central Amusement International Inc. “Using our platform to help our local community is inherent in our DNA and an ethos we take pride in.  We look forward to continuing our support of the Brooklyn community, not just on Opening Day, but all year long and into the future.”

Operation H.O.O.D. (Helping Our Own Develop) Cure Violence Initiative in Coney Island aims to identify and mediate conflicts among high-risk youth, mentor them to change behaviors toward gun violence and mobilize the community to raise awareness about violence and promote community norms that reject violence.

Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) is a community based, non-profit organization, in Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed Stuy), Brooklyn, whose mission is to embrace the children of incarcerated parents and empower them to build brighter futures.

The Coney Island Sharks have been a community-based organization for the past 30 years.  Their mission is to ensure that the local youth are supported in their social development by providing a free athletics program that not only includes sports but life skills through mentoring and tutoring.

We look forward to continuing our commitment to empowering our neighbors throughout the 2022 season and beyond.
